Miguel Angel Vargas Ortega is currently Of Counsel at VAHG and heads the Labor Law Practice at the Firm. He started working at the Law Firm “Barbosa Abogados Asociados” in January 2001, and later in 2004 he became an Associate of the Labor Law Practice of the Firm “Hernández Barbosa y Huerga” until May 2010.
In May 2010 he became a founding Partner of Vargas Abogados. In 2013 he completed a postgraduate course in Labor Law and Social Security and in 2015 he completed a postgraduate course in Constitutional Law and Amparo, both given by the Universidad Panamericana, Campus Guadalajara.
Miguel Ángel obtained his Law Degree (JD) from Universidad Panamericana, Campus Guadalajara, in 2003. He has a Master’s Degree in Public Law, with Honorable Mention from Universidad Panamericana, Campus Guadalajara.
He has also lectured on various labor issues in different business chambers such as CANIRAC, CNIC, Colegio de Contadores de Jalisco, among others.
He has outstanding experience in labor matters such as the drafting and negotiation of collective and individual labor contracts in both local and national unions. He participates in the negotiation and representation in labor litigation before federal and local authorities and in the prevention and solution of all types of labor contingencies.
He gives timely attention to labor inspections by the State and Federal Ministry of Labour. Miguel Ángel represents clients in legal audits for the reduction of labor risks and contingencies, as well as in the defense in litigation proceedings initiated by the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS). In addition, he provides legal advice in the handling of commission agents, amparo trials in labor matters, lobbying and consulting in collective conflicts before the main labor centrals of the country (CTM, COM, CROM, CROC, UNT).
He provides continuous training to the Human Resources Departments in transnational companies, as well as in the delivery of courses and conferences to lawyers and professionals on the criteria in labor matters and in the management of the Human Resources Area.
